It’s so great to discover what readers of my books and customers are locker hooking. Color Crazy customer, Joan Booth, has been having fun creating these colorful and beautiful gifts. She happens to be very creative with various crafts. She creates miniature sculpture scenes, she crochets, is learning to tat, and she has recently taken up locker hooking. Here are some of her recent colorful creations:
This is the first in a series of posts about using ceramic tiles to create locker hooked gifts.
I included a project for using ceramic tiles to locker hook a trivet in my Locking Loops book. As a matter of fact, the very first set of kits I created–the Hook, Loop & Lock Getting Started Kits— include small ceramic tiles for a small trivet. I really love the colorful designs in these hand-painted tiles paired with Color Crazy Hand-Dyed Fabric Strips, and Joan has created some great designs with these. I was also delighted to see how she personalized each locker hooked trivet with a custom name tag from a company she found online.
“The company has been in business since 1938–which is amazing–they are in Atlanta, ” says Joan. “I just thought it added a little personal touch.”
I couldn’t agree more! It just makes it special. You can order your own personalized tags at www.namemaker.com. Just be aware that it can take 6 to 8 weeks to get them, but the quality is worth the wait. If you love creating hand-crafted gifts to give over the holidays, now is the time to order. I just ordered mine.
Using ceramic tiles for locker hooked mats makes it so easy to complete and create a unique gift.
It’s fast and easy to do with a few simple materials. I highly recommend a strong, waterproof adhesive like Quick Grip to secure the tile in place. I also recommend using the hand-dyed fabric strips to match the vibrant colors of the tiles. Color Crazy carries the canvas, 4″ x 4″ ceramic tiles, locker hooking tool set, fabric strips and the Quick Grip glue. Below is everything you need to get started. Follow the FREE Color Crazy French Garden Trivet Pattern for design shown below at this link.
